Republicans need 1,215 of 2,429 available delegates and Democrats need 1,968 of 3,934 delegates to secure the nominations for their parties.
Delegates by state
The 2024 Democratic Convention will be held in Chicago, IL from August 19 to August 22. 4,659 total Democratic delegates (3,934 pledged and 734 "Super Delegates") from across the country will nominate their chosen candidate for President. After every presidential primary election, Decision Desk HQ will update each candidate's estimated delegate total as they race to the magic number of 1,968 pledged delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination on the first ballot.
